So it seems that NASA has gotten good at airbrushing out portions of lunar and other images. They 'routinely' remove them from their satellite and other imaging.
This seems almost like malice by omission. It reminds me of when the Americans took a photo of a Soviet spy, and the Soviets later produced an image with the Soviet airbrushed out except for his foot. They hadn't noticed that the foot was still there when they accused the Americans of having 'airbrushed him in' to the photo.
This image at 2:09 in the clip is particularly poignant, and numerous others are blatant fx.
